An Annapolis shoemaker created the first helmet for Admiral Joseph Mason Reeves who had been advised by a Navy doctor that he would be risking death or "instant insanity" if he took another hit to the head. Amazingly enough, helmets were not mandatory till the late 30's.  Does not come with a chin strap. Spots on inside at ear cover - it came like that.  Other side has none.  Display only - not for wearing.
