Set 6 & 8 Aynsley Bone China Leighton Cobalt and Gold Dinner Plates

A rare chance to get a set of 8 or 6 bone china dinner plates by Aynsley in the elegant  Leighton pattern : a deep cobalt blue rim with an articulate 24kt gold gilding. These have a scalloped edge which makes them even more special and elegant because the rippled edge catches the light far more than a smooth circle.
Cobalt reflects as Black in some photos but it is definitely cobalt in life. Please see all photos.
One photo is back-lit to show how thin and translucent the bone china is.
The felt pad spacers in-between some plates show that these were originally sold through Shreve and Company, a luxury retailer in San Francisco that currently specializes in high-end jewelry but in the past used to include luxury houseware.
Aynsley was one of the first potteries in England to specialize in Bone China creating a very strong china that is thinner and lighter than others. Queen Victoria recognized their quality by granting a royal warrant which is why they have a royal crown in their logo. In England everyone knows Aynsley is synonymous with high-end quality bone china.
